About Static Juggler: Arcade Weather
Static Juggler: Arcade Weather is an arcade act on the last tram of the night, seen from the side with the car cut open. You are Otto, a busker who juggles fruit for the late passengers, and Otto has two ways to get along the car: Skate and Strap.
On his skate shoes he rolls down the aisle fast and low, with all the momentum a skater has on a moving tram: when the driver rings the bell and brakes or pulls away, the lurch sends him sliding. On a strap he hangs from the ceiling with his knees tucked up and moves hand over hand, slowly, and no lurch can shift him. Suitcases and runaway prams roll along the floor, so strap up over them. Newspapers flap along the car at strap height and shopping bags swing from the straps, so skate under them. Drips from the roof hit both and have to be dodged along the aisle. Switch just before the old mode would have been hit and that is a clean switch.
The act runs for six stops of twenty seconds, and the weather outside changes the pattern at every stop. With the windows down in the wind, newspapers fly and gusts push a skater. In the rain the roof leaks, puddles make the floor slippery and the luggage rolls more. In fog the driver cannot see the road, so the lurches come harder and more often. Fruit falls from the luggage racks: catch it one piece after another to build the Juggle chain and climb the multiplier from ×1 to ×8, and watch the juggle over Otto's head grow. A chain of nine brings a standing ovation: the passengers rise and clap, the car lights turn gold, fruit rains from every rack and every catch counts double for six seconds. Three hits and the juggle is down. Each act draws one car rule, the daily tram is the same ride for everyone that day, and Pace and Assist are in the settings. Frequently asked questions
When should I skate and when should I hang from a strap?
Hang from a strap when luggage rolls along the floor or the bell rings for a lurch. Skate when a newspaper flies along the car or a bag starts swinging at strap height, and whenever you need to get somewhere fast.
What does the bell mean?
The driver rings it a second before the tram brakes or pulls away. A skating Otto slides with the lurch; one on a strap stays put. In fog the lurches are harder and come more often.
What does each weather do?
Wind: the windows are down, newspapers fly along the car and gusts push a skater. Rain: the roof drips and puddles make the floor slippery. Fog: the driver brakes hard and often.
What is the standing ovation?
Catch nine pieces of fruit in one Juggle chain and the passengers rise to clap. For six seconds the car lights turn gold, the hazards clear, fruit falls from every rack and every catch counts double. It can happen once per stop.
Is there an easier way to play?
Yes. In Settings, Pace set to Relaxed runs the tram at three-quarter speed, and Assist makes hazards a little smaller, fruit easier to catch and adds a breather between waves.
Does the game save?
An act you leave is kept in this browser and picks up at the start of the wave you were in. Best scores, the daily result and badges stay in this browser and are never uploaded.
