About Pixel Courier: One More Run
Pixel Courier: One More Run is a one-button timing game set in a pixel-art robot repair arena. A steel cabinet holds a pit of studs, springy orange bumpers and slow windmill spinners, and an arm rides a rail across the top carrying the next bolt. At the bottom of the pit are five sockets, and one of them is lit for each bolt. You cannot steer the bolt and you cannot move the arm. All you decide is the moment to let go, and that is enough: where the arm is, and which way it is travelling, sets where the bolt starts and how fast it is going sideways, and from there the pit does the rest. Nothing is random. The same drop falls the same way every time, so a good one can be learned, remembered and repeated.
A run is three orders of five bolts and takes about a minute, so there is always time for one more. Seat three bolts in a row and the arm gets a spare bolt. Gold bolts are bouncier and pay double, a bolt that banks off the side wall pays a quarter more, and your multiplier climbs while you keep seating them and steps back when you miss. After the first order the pit re-tools: every stud, bumper and windmill slides to a new place, and the drops you had worked out change under you.
The pit and the arm’s pace are picked by the run’s seed, tonight’s run is the same for everyone, each run draws one rule such as slick bolts or twin lamps, and your best run of each is kept as a ghost to chase. Pace and Assist are in the settings: Assist draws where the bolt would go in the first second of its fall.
How to play
- Press Space, Enter or the down arrow, click or tap anywhere, or press the on-screen button to let the arm drop its bolt.
- You cannot steer: the moment you let go, and the way the arm is moving, decides what the bolt meets.
- Land the bolt in the lit socket. Three in a row earns a spare bolt; gold bolts pay double.
- A bolt that banks off the side of the pit pays a quarter more, and a spinner’s blades can throw it across the pit.
- A run is three orders. After the first the pit re-tools and every part moves to a new place.
Controls
- Space, Enter, the down arrow, S, a click or tap anywhere, the pad’s A button, or the on-screen button — drop the bolt
- P, Escape or Start — pause
Frequently asked questions
How do I aim the bolt?
You do not. The arm slides to and fro by itself and you pick the moment to let go. Where the arm is then, and which way it is moving, decides where the bolt starts and how fast it drifts sideways, and the pit decides the rest.
Is it random?
No. Bolts follow exact physics, so the same release in the same pit falls the same way. The pit is chosen by the run’s seed, and after the first order it re-tools, so a drop you learned changes.
What does re-tool mean?
After the first order every stud, bumper and windmill slides to a second place. The sockets and the arm stay where they are, but the paths between them are new.
How do I earn a spare bolt?
Seat three bolts in a row in their lit sockets. Each time you do it again you earn another, up to four spare bolts in a run.
Can I make it easier?
Yes. In Settings, Pace: Relaxed runs the whole game at three-quarter speed, and Assist draws where the bolt would go in the first second of its fall and slows the arm a little.
