About Pixel Courier: Arcade Weather

Pixel Courier: Arcade Weather is a one-button timing game on a hill outside a storm-chasing broadcast, drawn in chunky pixel art. A drone hovering on the right pitches parcels down the line. Beside a parked TV van, the courier works a long beam on a post, and three satellite dishes stand on the grass at three distances. One dish wears a red tally lamp for each pitch, and your job is to bat the parcel into it.

Nothing is aimed. The beam swings the same way every time and takes the same time to do it, so the only thing you decide is when to press. The beam turns slowly through its strike zone, which makes the timing learnable: press a little early and the parcel is struck low and driven flat towards the near dish, press later and it is lifted higher and flies further. Wind changes the flight, so the windsock on the right matters as much as the drone.

The weather changes every round. A crosswind shoves a parcel in flight, rain makes parcels heavier and the beam soggy, fog hides the pitch until it is almost on you, and the storm brings all of it with lightning. Four strikes end the show, and a parcel that gets past the beam is a strike. Five rounds of four pitches complete it. Land lit dishes in a row and the TV cuts to a slow-motion replay of the shot. Tonight’s show is the same for everyone, each show draws one rule such as a long mallet or a dead calm, and your best show is kept as a ghost to chase. Assist marks where a parcel would land if you swung right now.

How to play

  1. Press Space, Enter or the up arrow, click or tap anywhere, or press the on-screen button to swing the beam.
  2. Bat the pitched parcel into the dish with the red tally lamp. You cannot aim: when you press decides how high the parcel flies.
  3. Read the windsock: wind pushes the parcel in flight. Rain makes it heavier, and fog hides the pitch until it is close.
  4. A parcel that gets past the beam is a strike. Four strikes end the show; five rounds of four pitches complete it.
  5. Land lit dishes in a row for a multiplier and a slow-motion replay. The far dish pays most.

Controls

  • Space, Enter, the up arrow, W, a click or tap anywhere, the pad’s A button, or the on-screen button — swing the beam
  • P, Escape or Start — pause

Frequently asked questions

How do I aim the parcel?

You do not. The beam swings the same way every time and takes the same time. You choose when to press. Pressing earlier meets the parcel low and drives it flat to the near dish, pressing later lifts it higher and further.

What does the weather do?

A crosswind pushes the parcel in flight, and the windsock shows which way. Rain makes parcels heavier and the beam soggy, so they fall short. Fog hides the pitch until it is close. The storm round mixes them all.

What is a strike?

A parcel that gets past the beam without being hit. Four strikes end the show; lucky tape rule adds a fifth. A parcel you hit that lands on the grass is not a strike, but it does break your streak.

What is the replay?

When you land lit dishes in a row, the TV cuts to a slow-motion close-up of the next one coming down. It is only for show and never changes the score.

Can I slow it down?

Yes. In Settings, Pace: Relaxed runs the whole game at three-quarter speed, and Assist marks where the parcel would land if you swung right now and slows the pitches a little.
