About Neon Signal: Score After Dark

High above the clouds a carnival floats on a round deck, lit by three rails of marquee bulbs around a turning Ferris wheel. You are the signal lantern, and you ride a rail round and round: you cannot stop, but you can hop to the next rail in or out, and you can turn and go the other way.

The carnival is awake. Searchlights sweep out from the wheel's hub. Fireworks burst on the deck and spread in rings. Balloons pop where a ring of light warned. Ride arms turn on their pivots, and a parade float crosses the whole deck with a gap in it. Every hazard shows a telegraph first. Pass a live one close without touching it and that is a near miss: it scores, it chains with the next one and it fills your multiplier. Five in a row set off the finale, rockets climbing from the rim and bursting over the deck. Tickets sit on the rails to pick up on the way.

This is a night score chase. The carnival closes after 120 seconds, or when you are out of bulbs. Every night has one twist, from last call to a dark deck, a spare bulb or a crowd rush. The daily night is the same for everyone today, a ghost of your best run on the same night races beside you, and your records and badges stay on this device.

How to play

  1. Hop to a rail with the up and down arrows, W and S, the on-screen buttons, or tap the rail you want. The ride starts with your first move.
  2. Press Space, Shift, Ⓐ or the Turn button to ride the other way round the deck. It needs a short rest between turns.
  3. Each hazard shows a dashed warning, then turns solid. Searchlights sweep from the hub, fireworks spread in rings, balloons pop and ride arms turn.
  4. Pass a live hazard close, without touching it, for a near miss. Chains of near misses fill the multiplier, and five in a row set off the finale.
  5. Ride over tickets on the rails to pick them up.
  6. A hit puts out a bulb. Three bulbs go and the night ends; if you last 120 seconds the carnival closes with a bonus.
  7. Press P, Escape or Start to pause. In Settings you can choose a relaxed pace and an assist with larger pick-ups and smaller hazards.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move?

You ride a rail on your own. Hop one rail in or out with the up and down arrows, W and S, the on-screen buttons, or by tapping the rail you want, and turn round with Space or the Turn button.

What is a near miss?

Passing a live hazard close without touching it. It scores more the closer you graze, builds a chain with the next one and fills the multiplier. Five in a row set off the finale.

Is there a ghost?

Yes. The best run on the same seed, or on today's night, races beside you as a faint lantern, and the Best run readout says how far ahead or behind you are.

How long is a night?

The carnival closes after 120 seconds, or when you are out of bulbs, whichever comes first.

Can I take it slower?

Yes. In Settings, Pace can be set to Relaxed, and Assist makes tickets easier to reach, hazards smaller and gives breathing room between waves.

Does it save my night?

A night in progress is saved at the start of every wave, so you can come back and continue. Records, ghosts and badges stay in this browser only.
