About Neon Pulse: Arcade Weather

Neon Pulse: Arcade Weather puts you behind the station's camera drone on a storm-chasing broadcast at night. The prairie scrolls past below, glowing storm cells roll in from the horizon, and you get each shot by flying into a cell and holding there while the lock ring closes. Every shot runs on the live reel. Cut to the studio to bank the reel, with a bonus that grows the longer it ran, or keep rolling and risk losing all of it when the signal drops.

The weather changes the pattern in every round. High wind pushes the drone and drags the cells; hail and rain fill the sky with falling ice to dodge; thick fog hides every cell beyond the reach of your lamp; a lightning storm marks dashed columns of light a second before they strike. A cell you let get away changes the next round too: it comes back as a twister, wandering in at the height it was lost. Twelve seconds without a shot is dead air and costs a signal, and three lost signals end the broadcast early; ten rounds make the full hour. Climb the multiplier to ×8 and the supercell rolls in, a giant spinning storm that is the night's headline. Each broadcast adds its own rule, the daily forecast is the same for everyone today, and your best run of it flies beside you as a ghost.

How to play

  1. Fly the drone with the arrow keys or WASD, a controller's left stick, or the on-screen stick on a touch screen.
  2. Fly into a storm cell and hold inside it while the lock ring closes to get the shot. The shot runs on your live reel.
  3. Press Space, B, Ⓐ or the Cut to studio button to bank the reel. The longer it ran, the bigger the bonus; a hit loses it.
  4. Wind pushes the drone, hail falls from above, fog hides cells beyond your lamp, and lightning shows a dashed column before it strikes.
  5. A cell that gets away comes back next round as a twister. Twelve seconds without a shot is dead air and costs a signal.
  6. Climb the multiplier to ×8 and the supercell rolls in: get it on camera for the headline shot.

Controls

  • Arrow keys or WASD, left stick or the on-screen stick — fly the drone
  • Space or B, Ⓐ or RT, or the Cut to studio button — bank the live reel

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a shot?

Fly into a storm cell and stay inside it for a moment. A green ring closes round the cell; when it is full, the shot is on your reel.

What does the weather change?

Each round has one: wind pushes you, hail falls, fog hides far cells, storms bring lightning. The order is set by the night, so the daily forecast is the same for everyone.

Where do twisters come from?

From the cells you miss. Each one that drifts away comes back in the next round as a twister at the height it was lost.

What is dead air?

Twelve seconds without a shot or a cut to the studio. The station cuts away and you lose a signal, so keep filming.

Can I make it calmer?

Yes. In Settings, Pace: Relaxed runs at three-quarter speed and Assist makes cells easier to hold and hazards smaller.
