About Moonlit Chapel: Last Draw

Moonlit Chapel: Last Draw is a solo card puzzle set in a chapel whose bell tower has been turned into an observatory. Five constellations of five cards hang in columns on a floor of black slate, and a small brass orrery turns on the meridian line above them. Play the lowest card of a column when it fits the card on the orbit. A card is open only when nothing lies on it, so each play frees the card above it.

The orbit has a rule, and the rule moves. It begins as one rank up or down, with the Ace and the King meeting, and every time you clear a constellation it turns over: cards exactly two ranks apart, then back to one. The four suits are comets, eclipses, astrolabes and constellations, worth one to four steps a card, and the planet of each suit in the orrery swells with what its suit is worth. One lens holds a card aside while you reach another.

The comet tail holds only nine cards, drawn one at a time, and it is the last draw: every card still in it when the sky is clear scores well. A card you hold in the lens now may be the chain you want later, and a card you play now may be the draw you needed. When the last constellation falls the planets race round, a dark moon crosses the sun and the dome floods the slate with light.

Every deal is checked by a solving player before you see it, so it can always be cleared, and its par shows what a sharp player can reach. A deal saves where you leave it, in this browser only; nothing is uploaded.

How to play

  1. Tap the lowest card of a column, or drag it to the orbit, when it fits the orbit's rule. The rule chip names the rule in force.
  2. Clear a whole constellation and the rule turns over: one rank up or down becomes exactly two apart, and back again. The suit values rise a step too.
  3. Put a card under the lens to reach the one beneath: drag it there, or tap it and then the lens. It can be played from there later.
  4. Draw from the comet tail when no play is left. It holds only nine cards, and each one left at the end adds to your score.
  5. Clear all five constellations to win the deal. Press H or the Hint button for a good move, and U or the Undo button to take a move back.

Frequently asked questions

What does the orbit's rule do?

It decides which cards you may play. It starts as one rank up or down, and every constellation you clear turns it over to exactly two ranks apart, then back again.

What is the last draw?

The comet tail holds only nine cards. Each card still in it when you clear the sky adds to your score, so a draw spent early is a point lost later.

What does the lens do?

It holds one card aside so you can reach the card beneath it. A card under the lens can still be played onto the orbit later.

Can every deal be cleared?

With "Winnable deals only" (the default, and always for today's challenge) a solving player has cleared the deal before you see it. Choose "Any shuffle" in the settings for the luck of the draw.

Does it save my game?

Yes, in this browser only. Your unfinished deal, best scores and badges are never uploaded.
