About the Reverse DNS Lookup
Convert complete IPv4 and IPv6 addresses to their standard reverse DNS names, query PTR records through a public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver, and check both A and AAAA for every returned hostname. Valid rows remain available beside malformed addresses and lookup failures. The regular run accepts 100 address rows; a Premium pass opens a batch of up to 5,000.
The free preview shows part of the real result; a Premium pass opens the full report and its exports.
How to use it
- Enter one complete IPv4 or IPv6 address per line. Choose the 100-row mode or the larger Premium batch.
- Confirm that the listed public resolver may receive the address-derived DNS names, then run.
- Inspect PTR and independent forward confirmation for every host. Unlock the CSV, text, copy and print exports with a Premium pass when you need them.

Limitations
- A PTR-to-forward match confirms a DNS relationship; it does not prove ownership, identify a person, validate TLS or establish mail deliverability.
- Each queried address and returned hostname is visible to the selected resolver. Do not submit addresses that your policy forbids sharing.
- Alias chains are bounded to ten queries and PTR responses to 50 targets per IP. A limit or failed forward family remains an explicit error, not a false mismatch.
Privacy
Sends data to online services
On Run, address-derived reverse DNS names and returned hostnames are sent directly to the selected public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver. No file is uploaded and no MySmartCoPilot proxy or private account is used. Requests start only after confirmation and Run.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Reverse DNS Lookup shows part of the real result’s rows; the full report and its exports open with a pass. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded, copied or printed. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
What is forward-confirmed reverse DNS?
After a PTR record supplies a hostname, its A or AAAA records must include the original address. All returned PTR hostnames are checked independently.
Does a missing PTR prevent mail delivery?
Receiver policies differ. Configure the intended PTR with the address owner and align forward DNS, but this tool does not perform an SMTP or deliverability test.
What happens to an invalid row?
It retains its input and actionable error while valid sibling addresses are queried. Nothing is silently truncated.
