About the Qatar Final Settlement Calculator (Gratuity, Leave & Notice)
Work out what is due when a job in Qatar ends, item by item, under Labour Law No. 14 of 2004: the end-of-service gratuity of at least three weeks’ basic wage for each year of service, cash for the annual leave you have not taken (with the part of the last leave year), the compensation for notice that was not observed — owed by whichever side ended the contract without it — salary not yet paid, and anything else owed either way. 7.33 years of service on a QAR 8,000 basic wage come to a gratuity of QAR 41,071.78.
The notice follows the amendments of Decree-Law No. 18 of 2020: one month during the first and second year of work and two months after, with the probation rules of Article 39, and compensation at the basic wage. The gratuity is worked out by the same engine as the Gulf gratuity calculator. Nothing you type leaves your browser. Without a pass the page gives a free preview of your own result: the total in full, with the rule behind each item and every amount hidden until you unlock it with a Pro pass.
How to use it
- Enter your start date and your last working day, and any unpaid leave or absence your employer leaves out of the service.
- Enter your last basic wage a month and the allowances paid every month.
- Choose how the contract ended — by the employer, by you, at the end of a fixed term, by agreement, under Article 51 or Article 61, or during probation — and say whether the notice was observed in full.
- Let the calculator work out the unused leave from the dates, or enter the balance you know; then add any salary days not yet paid, other amounts owed to you and what you owe the employer.
- Read the itemised settlement, the notes and the working. Without a pass the result is a free preview; with a Pro pass, or after unlocking this result, copy the statement or download it as a text file or CSV.
Examples
Gratuity 21 × QAR 266.6667 × 7.3342 years = QAR 41,071.78; leave 9.36 days = QAR 2,495.71; total QAR 43,567.49.
Two months’ basic wage is owed to the employer (QAR 16,000.00), so the total falls to QAR 27,567.49.
A migrant worker who leaves Qatar without observing the notice cannot be given a work permit for a year (Articles 39 and 49).
A third of a month’s basic wage, QAR 2,666.67, on top of a gratuity of QAR 8,423.01 and leave of QAR 2,823.01: QAR 13,912.69.
No gratuity and no notice; the leave already earned is still paid: QAR 2,495.71.
No gratuity before a full year; leave QAR 1,411.51; two thirds of a month’s basic wage owed (QAR 5,333.33): you would owe QAR 3,921.82.
What a final settlement includes
- End-of-service gratuity: after a full year of service, at least three weeks’ wage for each year, fractions in proportion, on the last basic wage (Article 54; see the Gulf gratuity calculator for its working). None on a dismissal under Article 61.
- Unused annual leave: cash for the leave days due when the contract ends before they are taken (Article 81), on the basic wage (Article 72) — three weeks a year under five years of service, four weeks from five, the last part year in proportion.
- Notice not observed: the worker’s basic wage for the notice period, or the part of it not observed, paid by whichever side ended the contract without it (Articles 39 and 49).
- Salary not yet paid and other amounts owed, less what the worker owes the employer, which may be taken from the gratuity (Article 54).
Notice periods
After probation either side may end the contract without giving reasons, with written notice of one month during the first and second year of work and two months after the second year (Article 49 as amended by Decree-Law No. 18 of 2020, Arabic text). Notice not observed costs the side that ended the contract the worker’s basic wage for the notice period or what is left of it. A notice period worked as usual is paid at the full wage (Article 50).
During probation — at most 6 months — the employer gives at least a month’s notice; a worker moving to another employer gives at least a month, and the new employer compensates the old one for the ticket and recruitment costs, at most 2 months’ basic wage; a worker leaving Qatar gives the notice in the contract, at most two months (Article 39).
Leaving or dismissal without notice
A worker may leave without notice and keep the full gratuity when the employer breaks the contract or the law, assaults the worker or a family member, misled the worker about the terms, ignores a serious danger to their health or safety, or after a final decision of a labour dispute committee in the worker’s favour (Article 51). An employer may dismiss without notice and without the gratuity only in the cases of Article 61 — such as forged papers, repeated breaches after a written warning, disclosing secrets, more than 7 days’ absence in a row or 15 in a year without good reason, or a final conviction for a crime of dishonour or dishonesty.
When and how it is paid
The employer pays the wage and every amount due before the end of the working day after the contract ends; when the worker left without the notice of Article 49, within seven days of leaving (Article 67). Wages and dues are paid in Qatari riyals (Article 66). The employer also pays for the worker’s return to the place of recruitment (Article 57), and gives a service certificate on request at no charge and returns the worker’s documents (Article 53, Al Meezan).

A day’s wage
The law states the gratuity in weeks of wage and leave in weeks, but not how a monthly wage becomes a day’s wage. The calculator divides the monthly wage by 30 by default, or multiplies it by 12 and divides by 365, and shows the working; three weeks of gratuity are 21 days. Leave cash and the notice compensation use the basic wage, and salary not yet paid uses the full wage with allowances.
Limitations
- Follows Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 for the private sector; government staff, domestic workers and the other groups of Article 3 have their own rules.
- A contract, collective agreement or the employer’s rules may give more than the law’s minimums, and an employer’s retirement scheme that gives more replaces the gratuity (Article 56).
- The leave estimate counts leave years from the start date at 21 or 28 days a year; if your employer counts it otherwise, enter the balance you know.
- Qatari employees insured under the Social Insurance Law have pension rights that this settlement does not cover.
- Disputes go to the labour dispute settlement committees; this estimate is no substitute for the employer’s statement or for advice on your own case.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Qatar Final Settlement Calculator (Gratuity, Leave & Notice) shows the total settlement in full, with the rule, days and years behind each item; the gratuity, leave, notice and every other amount are hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
How is the final settlement calculated in Qatar?
Add the gratuity (21 days’ basic wage a year after a full year), cash for unused leave on the basic wage, any notice compensation owed by the side that skipped the notice, and salary not yet paid; take off what you owe the employer. On QAR 8,000 and 7 years and 4 months that is QAR 43,567.49 when the notice was observed.
Do I lose my gratuity if I resign in Qatar?
No. Article 54 gives the gratuity after a full year of service however the contract ends, except on a dismissal under Article 61. If you resign without observing the notice, you owe the employer your basic wage for the notice not observed, which may be taken from the gratuity.
What is the notice period in Qatar?
After probation, one month during the first and second year of work and two months after the second year (Article 49, as amended by Decree-Law No. 18 of 2020). During probation, one month from the employer or from a worker moving to another employer, and the agreed notice of at most two months from a worker leaving Qatar (Article 39).
Is unused annual leave paid when I leave?
Yes. Leave cannot be waived, and when the contract ends before the leave is taken the worker gets cash for the leave days due (Article 81), worked out on the basic wage (Article 72), including the share of the last part year.
When must the employer pay the final settlement?
Before the end of the working day after the contract ends, or within seven days of leaving when the worker left without observing the notice (Article 67).
Do I need a pass?
To copy or download the full statement, yes: a Pro pass unlocks every Pro tool. Without a pass you see a free preview of your own result: the total settlement in full, with the rule, days and years behind each item, and the gratuity, leave, notice and other amounts hidden.
