How to use it

Formats and metadata
Original BibTeX manual, BibLaTeX manual, RIS reference, and CSL-JSON schema. Required-field warnings identify gaps; the converter does not invent publication details.
Plain-text reference profiles
The formatter supplies APA, MLA, Chicago author-date and numbered Vancouver reference-list profiles. It keeps creators, chapter and container editors, editions, page ranges and publisher details. NLM’s formatted-reference examples describe the first-six-authors plus et al. option used by the numbered profile; NLM databases may list all authors. Missing details remain warnings.
Limitations
- Formatted references are plain text. Review the required institutional or editorial style and restore typographic italics when pasting into a document.
- Some formats have no direct equivalent for a field. The JSON working file and MySmartCoPilot metadata extensions keep those values; other programs may ignore the extensions.
- Cross-reference and xdata records are expanded. Duplicate conflicts stay in the working file instead of being overwritten.
- Unknown TeX commands stay literal with warnings. No remote DOI lookup, URL enrichment or automatic publication search occurs.
- These are independently written plain-text reference profiles, not a full CSL processor or typesetting engine. Institutional, journal, legal-document and specialist source-type conventions can require further editing. Complete original metadata stays in the working.

Common Latin accents, ligatures and symbols can be written as Unicode or TeX commands in BibTeX output. Structured corporate names remain protected; unknown commands are preserved with a warning.
