About Turbo Juggler: Score After Dark

Turbo Juggler: Score After Dark is a one-button timing game set on a floating fairground after the gates have closed. A great painted wheel hangs over the plank stage, studded with bulbs, and it never stops turning. Below it a juggler in a tall hat keeps a cascade of striped clubs in the air, and whenever you press Throw she sends one straight up. The club takes a moment to arrive and bites the rim wherever the wheel has turned to by then, so the whole game is in the lead: you throw at where the gap will be.

The wheel is a crowded place. Every club already stuck in the rim is in the way, and a new club that lands on one clashes and is dropped. Stretches of the rim also take turns to glow amber and then burn, and a club that lands on a burning stretch is lost as well. Golden lamps mark the best places to land. Clean sticks in quick succession build a chain, and ten in a row lights the Grand Finale: the rim cools, the wheel slows, fireworks go up over the islands and everything pays double for a few seconds.

A show is six acts, and each asks for more clubs on a wheel that behaves differently: a steady opening turn, a wobble, a reverse gear, a lamp alley, a sprint and a closing-time finale of everything at once. You can drop three clubs, and standing about drops one by itself. Each night adds a rule of its own, tonight’s show is the same for everyone, and the best run of it is kept as a ghost to chase.

How to play

  1. Press Space, Enter, the up arrow, Ⓐ, click, or the Throw button to send a club up at the wheel.
  2. The club lands a moment later at the bottom of the wheel, wherever the rim has turned to, so aim at the gap that is coming.
  3. Land clear of the clubs already in the wheel: a clash drops the club.
  4. Do not land on a burning stretch of rim. It glows amber as a warning and then burns.
  5. Land on a golden lamp for a big score. Ten clean sticks in a row light the Grand Finale and everything pays double.
  6. Stick the act’s quota of clubs to clear it. You can drop three clubs, and standing about drops one.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my club clash when there was a gap?

The club needs a moment to fly up, and the wheel keeps turning while it does. It lands where the rim has moved to, not where it was when you pressed the button, so throw at the gap that is coming toward the bottom.

What are the glowing stretches?

They are parts of the rim that heat up. They blink amber as a warning and then burn. A club that lands on a burning stretch is lost, but a stretch that has cooled is safe again.

What does the Grand Finale do?

After ten clean sticks in a row the wheel slows, the rim cools and everything you score pays double for a few seconds, with fireworks over the fairground.

Why do I lose a club when I do nothing?

The show keeps moving. If you do not throw for about six seconds the juggler fumbles and drops a club. It is the same rule every night.

Can I slow it down?

Yes. In Settings, Pace: Relaxed runs at three-quarter speed, and Assist makes the clubs a little narrower, the lamps easier to hit and the warnings longer.
