About Turbo Juggler: Arcade Weather

Turbo Juggler: Arcade Weather is a falling game set in a midnight city tram. The last line spirals down a brick clock tower, and a glowing tram lantern bounces on the steel rings that wind round it. You never touch the lantern. You turn the tower, left and right, so that the gap in the ring below lies under it, and the lantern drops through to the next ring. Far too slow and the tram runs late; too careless and it lands where it should not.

The rings are the danger. Their sectors take turns to charge, blinking amber, and then go live in electric pink, and a lantern that lands on a live sector is hurt. Three lamps are all you have. A sector that is not lit is safe to bounce on, so the whole game is a question of what is lit under you right now and what will be lit when you arrive. Fall through several levels without touching down, or hold Dive, and the lantern strikes a ring hard enough to smash it. Eight levels in a row without a bounce light the Night Express: for a few seconds nothing can stop the lantern, rings burst as it passes and everything pays double.

A run is six towers, each in its own weather. Wind turns the tower by itself in gusts, heavy rain makes it slide on after you let go, and harbour fog hides every ring but the next two; the thunderstorm mixes all three. A line map shows the stops you have passed, each night adds a rule of its own, tonight’s run is the same for everyone and your best run is kept as a ghost to chase.

How to play

  1. Turn the tower with the left and right arrows or A and D, a controller’s left stick, or the on-screen pair.
  2. Line a gap up under the lantern and it drops through to the next ring. Rings that are not lit are safe to bounce on.
  3. Sectors blink amber as they charge and go live in pink. A lantern that lands on a live sector costs a lamp; you have three.
  4. Hold Space, Enter, the down arrow, Ⓐ or the Dive button to fall faster. Falling hard through several levels smashes the next ring.
  5. Eight levels in a row without a bounce light the Night Express: nothing can stop the lantern and everything pays double.
  6. Every tower has its own weather: wind, rain or fog. Keep moving, because a tram that makes no progress for too long runs late and costs a lamp.

Controls

  • Left and right arrows or A and D, left stick, the on-screen pair — turn the tower
  • Hold Space, Enter, down arrow, Ⓐ or RT, the Dive button — dive
  • P, Escape or Start — pause

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the lantern down?

Turn the tower until the gap in the ring below is under the lantern. Landing on a solid sector only bounces it, and it keeps bouncing until you open a way down.

What does a live sector do?

A sector blinks amber while it charges and then goes live in pink for a moment. Landing on it costs a lamp and bounces the lantern back up. Once it cools it is safe again.

How do I smash a ring?

Land hard. After falling through a few levels without a bounce, or while holding Dive, the lantern is fast enough to break a ring that is solid or charging. A live sector still hurts.

What does the weather change?

Wind turns the tower in gusts, rain makes it keep sliding after you let go, and fog hides all but the next two rings. The thunderstorm has all three.

Can I slow it down?

Yes. In Settings, Pace: Relaxed runs at three-quarter speed, Assist makes the tower turn more easily and gives longer warnings, and you can make Dive a toggle instead of a hold.
