About Pixel Pulse: One More Run

Pixel Pulse: One More Run is a very short climb in a robot repair arena, seen from the side in pixel art. In the middle of the arena stands a tower of scaffolding, and at the bottom of it the scrap press has just switched on. You are Bolt, a small repair bot on springy feet. Bolt bounces by itself, so all you do is steer left and right and land on the next platform up.

Bolts and gears hang between the platforms, and every one goes into a pot, along with each new floor you reach. The pot ripens while it rides, up to three times its worth. Every other section ends at a green repair station: land on it and the pot is banked. Beside the station sits a red spring instead. Take the spring and Bolt rockets three storeys up in the Overclock, with double-value bolts and no shocks for five seconds, but the pot stays unbanked and keeps ripening, and the next station is a long way up. Orange plates crack a moment after you land, teal ones slide, and the red-and-yellow ones shock you and cost the whole pot.

The press rises a little faster every second, so a run lasts from fifteen to ninety seconds and ends when it catches you. Press R and the next run starts at once. Each run draws one rule variation, the daily run is the same tower for everyone that day, and your best height is marked as a line on the tower. Pace and Assist are in the settings, and your records stay in this browser.

How to play

  1. Bolt bounces on its own. Steer with the arrow keys, A and D, a stick or the on-screen arrows.
  2. Collect bolts and gears and land on new floors to fill the pot. It ripens while it rides.
  3. Land on a green repair station to bank the pot, or take the red spring beside it for the Overclock and keep the pot at risk.
  4. Avoid red-and-yellow plates: they shock and cost the pot. Orange plates crack, teal plates slide.
  5. Stay ahead of the scrap press. Press R to restart a run at once.

Controls

  • Arrow keys, A and D, left stick, D-pad or the on-screen arrows — steer Bolt
  • R or Ⓨ — restart the run
  • P, Escape or Start — pause

Frequently asked questions

How do I jump?

You do not. Bolt bounces by itself every time it lands. You only steer left and right, so the skill is in choosing which platform to land on and where.

What is the pot, and how do I bank it?

Bolts, gears and every new floor go into the pot, which is not yet score. Land on a green repair station and the pot is banked, times the ripening bonus. If you die or get shocked first, the pot is lost. Height itself always scores a few points.

Why would I take the spring instead of the station?

The spring flings Bolt three storeys up and starts the Overclock: for five seconds bolts are worth double and shocks cannot hurt you, and it pushes the multiplier up. The pot keeps ripening, but the next station is further up, so it is a gamble on getting there.

How fast does the press rise?

It starts slowly and speeds up every second, so even a perfect climb ends within about ninety seconds. The red glow at the bottom and the Press meter show how close it is.

Is there an easier way to play?

Yes. In Settings, Pace set to Relaxed runs the whole game at three-quarter speed, and Assist widens the platforms a little, pulls bolts in from further away, slows the press and gives a breather between sections. Landing shadow marks where Bolt will land.

Does the game save?

A run you leave is kept in this browser and comes back on a fresh deck at the start of the section you were in. Your best height, best scores and badges stay in this browser and are never uploaded.
