About the Singapore CPF Retirement Sum (BRS/FRS/ERS) Calculator

See the CPF retirement sums that apply to you and how your savings measure up. The Full Retirement Sum (FRS) depends on the year you turn 55 and stays the same for life; the Basic Retirement Sum (BRS) is half of it, and the Enhanced Retirement Sum (ERS), double the current year’s FRS, is the most you can top up your Retirement Account to from 55. Enter your month and year of birth and your CPF balances, and the calculator shows your sums, how far today’s savings are from them, how much more your Special or Retirement Account can take in top-ups (and how much of a cash top-up gets tax relief), and what you could withdraw at 55.

Before 55 it shows what today’s Special and Ordinary Account savings would put into your Retirement Account, following CPF’s order (Special Account first) and the S$5,000 you can keep when the FRS cannot be met. Home owners can see the effect of setting aside up to half the FRS with their property. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

How to use it

  1. Enter your month and year of birth: the year you turn 55 sets your BRS and FRS. If CPF has not announced your FRS yet, enter the amount you want to plan with.
  2. Enter your CPF balances: Ordinary and Special Account savings before 55, or your Retirement Account savings from 55 (as on your Retirement Dashboard).
  3. Below 55, add any Special Account savings invested under the CPF Investment Scheme; from 55, any RA savings already used for CPF LIFE premiums.
  4. Tick the property box if you own a home whose lease lasts to at least age 95 and want to set aside part of the FRS with it.
  5. Read your sums, the shortfall, your top-up room and what you could withdraw. Copy the summary or download it as a CSV file — with a pass, or after unlocking this result.

Examples

Turning 55 in 2027, with S$120,000 in the SA and S$80,000 in the OA
Result
FRS S$228,200, BRS S$114,100. At 55, S$195,000 would go into the Retirement Account and S$5,000 stay in the OA to withdraw: S$33,200 short of the FRS. The SA can take up to S$100,400 more in top-ups now.
The same member with S$150,000 in the OA
Result
S$120,000 from the SA and S$108,200 from the OA set aside the FRS; the other S$41,800 in the OA can be withdrawn from 55.
A home owner with S$120,000 in the SA and S$30,000 in the OA
Result
With a property lease to age 95 or beyond, only the BRS (S$114,100) is needed in cash: S$30,900 of RA savings above it and the S$5,000 left in the OA could be withdrawn.
Turned 55 in 2025, S$150,000 in the Retirement Account
Result
FRS S$213,000 (short by S$63,000). The RA can be topped up to this year’s ERS of S$440,800: up to S$290,800 more. Cash top-ups to your own RA get tax relief on up to S$8,000 this year.

The retirement sums by the year you turn 55

The FRS is set for each year’s cohort of members turning 55 and stays the same for life; the BRS is half the FRS (CPF Board: Full Retirement Sum; the three sums):

  • 2015 (from July): FRS S$161,000, BRS S$80,500
  • 2016: FRS S$161,000, BRS S$80,500
  • 2017: FRS S$166,000, BRS S$83,000
  • 2018: FRS S$171,000, BRS S$85,500
  • 2019: FRS S$176,000, BRS S$88,000
  • 2020: FRS S$181,000, BRS S$90,500
  • 2021: FRS S$186,000, BRS S$93,000
  • 2022: FRS S$192,000, BRS S$96,000
  • 2023: FRS S$198,800, BRS S$99,400
  • 2024: FRS S$205,800, BRS S$102,900
  • 2025: FRS S$213,000, BRS S$106,500
  • 2026: FRS S$220,400, BRS S$110,200
  • 2027: FRS S$228,200, BRS S$114,100

Members born before 1 July 1960 have the earlier sums CPF Board lists. The ERS is double the current year’s FRS and rises every January; it does not depend on the year you turned 55 (CPF Board): this year S$440,800, double S$220,400.

What happens at 55

On your 55th birthday CPF creates your Retirement Account and moves your Special Account savings, then your Ordinary Account savings, into it up to your FRS. The Special Account is closed and any savings left in it go to your Ordinary Account, which you can withdraw once the FRS is set aside. If your SA and OA cannot make up the FRS, up to S$5,000 stays in your OA to withdraw and the rest goes to the RA (CPF Board: reaching age 55). From 55 to 64 you can withdraw any amount from your OA once the FRS is set aside, or S$5,000 if it is not (CPF Board).

If you own a property in Singapore whose lease lasts until you are at least 95, you can set aside up to half the FRS with it and withdraw RA savings above the BRS; if you later sell the property, the CPF withdrawn must be refunded with interest to restore the RA up to the FRS.

Topping up and tax relief

Below 55 you can top up your Special Account to the current FRS, less your SA savings and any SA savings still invested under the CPF Investment Scheme. From 55 you can top up your Retirement Account to the current ERS, less your RA savings and any RA savings used for CPF LIFE premiums (CPF Board). Top-ups cannot be withdrawn; they go towards your monthly payouts (CPF Board).

Cash top-ups get tax relief of up to S$8,000 a year for top-ups to yourself and up to S$8,000 for top-ups to family members, but only on the part that brings an account up to the current FRS, and not on top-ups that attract a matching grant (IRAS-cash-top-up-relief)). Transfers from your own Ordinary Account get no relief.

Limitations

  • Uses the balances you enter today: it does not project interest, contributions or withdrawals before you turn 55.
  • Ordinary Account savings you reserve before 55 for housing payments, savings already used for housing, and refunds after selling a property are not modelled.
  • The ERS and current FRS for top-up limits are the ones built in for this year; your Retirement Dashboard shows your exact limits.
  • Monthly payouts from CPF LIFE are not estimated here.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Singapore CPF Retirement Sum (BRS/FRS/ERS) Calculator shows your Full Retirement Sum in full, with the first rows of your sums and of your savings against them (up to 3); every other figure is hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

What is my Full Retirement Sum?

It depends on the year you turn 55: S$213,000 for 2025, S$220,400 for 2026, S$228,200 for 2027. Once set it stays the same for the rest of your life, and your BRS is half of it.

What is the Enhanced Retirement Sum?

The most you can top up your Retirement Account to once you are 55, for higher CPF LIFE payouts. It is double the current year’s FRS and rises each January; this year it is S$440,800. It does not depend on the year you turned 55.

How much can I withdraw at 55?

Once your FRS is set aside (in cash, or with your property for up to half of it) you can withdraw any amount from your Ordinary Account. If you cannot set aside the FRS, you can still withdraw up to S$5,000.

Do I get tax relief for topping up my CPF?

For cash top-ups, yes: up to S$8,000 a year for yourself and S$8,000 for family members, on the part that brings the account up to the current FRS, if you are a Singapore Citizen or PR. Transfers from your own CPF and top-ups that get a matching grant do not qualify.

Is my CPF information sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server.
