About the Product Tour Builder
Write the steps of an onboarding tour for your own website: choose a target selector, title, explanation and placement, then decide whether the visitor must click the target before moving on. Preview those behaviours on a built-in demonstration page. The exported script includes its CSS, keyboard controls, focus management and optional progress checklist, with no remote requests or tracking.
How to use it
- Add a step for each action. Use the selector-picking bookmarklet on a page you control, or enter a stable CSS selector yourself.
- Choose automatic placement or a preferred side, add an optional embedded image, and turn on wait-for-click for steps that teach an action.
- Set a URL pattern and choose manual, first-visit or start-button activation. Run the full tour on the demonstration page.
- With a pass, download the script and editable JSON. Load the script with defer on your site; call window.MySmartCoPilotTours[yourId].start() for manual activation.
Keyboard and assistive-technology behaviour
Each step opens a labelled dialog, announces its position and keeps keyboard focus in the tour or the required target action. Escape closes it, and focus returns to the element that opened it. The small-screen layout becomes a bottom sheet. These patterns follow the WAI-ARIA dialog guidance.
Limitations
- The complete script must stay below 10 KB, including its configuration and embedded images. Oversized configurations are refused without removing steps.
- A site’s Content Security Policy can block bookmarklets or the exported widget’s generated style. The page reports its requirements; it does not bypass that policy.
- Remote image URLs are not included. Choose an embedded PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF to keep the exported script self-contained.
- The preview runs against the built-in demo, not your live website. Test every selector and keyboard action on your own site before using the tour.

What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Product Tour Builder shows a working tour on the built-in demo. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment unless you choose automatic renewal, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Does the script send analytics?
No. It has no tracking or remote requests. Only the optional completed/don’t-show-again flag is stored in the visitor’s localStorage.
Can I edit the tour later?
Yes. Re-import the JSON, change its steps or start rules, then export a new script. The configuration remains on your device.
