Worked example: fitting 24 photos to a 60-second song

A slideshow of 24 photos must end with a 60-second song, with a 1-second transition between each photo and the next.

  1. 24 photos have 23 transitions between them, and each transition overlaps two photos by 1 second.

  2. So the photos together must fill 60 + 23 × 1 = 83 seconds of screen time.

  3. Shared equally, that is 83 ÷ 24 = about 3.46 seconds per photo.

  4. The maker sets each photo to 3.46 seconds, so the last one fades out as the song ends.

Which shape should the video be?

16:9 for YouTube and most screens, 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and Status, and 1:1 for some feeds.

Can I use any song?

Only music you have the rights to use: your own recordings, licensed tracks or music whose licence allows it. Platforms may mute or remove videos with music that is not cleared.

Can I make a video for each guest with their name?
