Your country

Tools that support it use your country for local currency, number formats, units and paper size. Your choice is saved only in this browser.

Type a name or a two-letter code. Use the up and down arrow keys to move through the countries, Enter to choose one and Escape to close.

About the WhatsApp Link Generator (Click to Chat + QR)

Make a WhatsApp click-to-chat link — https://wa.me/ followed by a phone number — so people can start a chat with you without saving your number first. Choose the country, type the number the way you normally write it and, if you like, a message: the number is checked and converted to the full international format WhatsApp asks for, and the message is encoded so line breaks, every script and emoji come through. (A message with emoji gets the longer api.whatsapp.com/send form of the link, because wa.me turns emoji into “”.)

You also get a share link with just the message (wa.me/?text=), a QR code to download as PNG or SVG, and the HTML for a website button — a styled link, a floating corner button, a plain text link or WhatsApp’s own button image. Everything is made in your browser: the number and message are not sent to MySmartCoPilot. MySmartCoPilot is independent — this tool is not made, sponsored or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta.

How to use it

  1. Choose the country and type the WhatsApp number as you would dial it there — 098765 43210, +91 98765 43210 and 0091 98765 43210 all work. You can also paste a wa.me link to edit it.
  2. Optionally type a pre-filled message. It appears in the chat’s text box, and the sender can still change it before sending.
  3. Copy the click-to-chat link, or press Open in WhatsApp to test it. With a message you also get the share link.
  4. Download the QR code as PNG or SVG, with a caption if you like, and scan it with your phone before you print it.
  5. For a website, choose a button type and copy the HTML (and the CSS, if you chose a CSS class).

Examples

An Indian mobile number
Input
India · 098765 43210
Result
https://wa.me/919876543210

The leading 0 (the trunk prefix) is dropped and 91, India’s country code, goes in front.

A London number with a message
Input
United Kingdom · 020 7946 0018 · “Is the flat still available?”
Result
https://wa.me/442079460018?text=Is%20the%20flat%20still%20available%3F

Ofcom keeps 020 7946 0000–0999 for TV and radio drama, so this is not a real line — a safe number to try the tool with.

A number written with +, brackets and dashes
Input
+1 (201) 555-0123
Result
https://wa.me/12015550123

The +, spaces, brackets and dashes are left out, as WhatsApp’s Help Center asks.

A message-only share link
Input
No number · “Our Diwali sale starts on Friday”
Result
https://wa.me/?text=Our%20Diwali%20sale%20starts%20on%20Friday

WhatsApp opens with the message and the sender chooses who gets it.

A message with an emoji
Input
India · 98765 43210 · “Namaste 🙏”
Result
https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=919876543210&text=Namaste%20%F0%9F%99%8F

wa.me would turn 🙏 into “” on the way, so this link goes straight to api.whatsapp.com/send, the page wa.me forwards to.

Common uses

  • A “Chat with us” link for an Instagram bio, an email signature, a Google Business Profile or a business card.
  • A QR code on a shop counter, a menu, a flyer or a delivery bag that opens a chat with the business.
  • A website button, or a floating corner button, that starts a WhatsApp chat with a ready-made question.
  • A share link that passes on an invitation, an offer or an announcement to whoever the sender picks.
  • Messaging a number once — a plumber, a seller, a delivery agent — without adding it to your contacts.

The link format WhatsApp documents

WhatsApp’s Help Center article “How to use click to chat” gives three forms (WhatsApp Help Center):

  • https://wa.me/<number>, where the number is “a full phone number in international format” — its example is https://wa.me/1XXXXXXXXXX, and it says to omit any zeroes, brackets or dashes, so not https://wa.me/+001-(XXX)XXXXXXX.
  • https://wa.me/<number>?text=<urlencodedtext> adds a message that “will automatically appear in the text field of a chat”.
  • https://wa.me/?text=<urlencodedtext> has only a message: after the link is opened, WhatsApp shows a list of contacts to send it to.

The article says click to chat works on your phone and on WhatsApp Web, and that the person needs an active WhatsApp account. A wa.me link forwards to api.whatsapp.com/send/?phone=…&text=…, so links in that form — and web.whatsapp.com/send and whatsapp://send links — can be pasted into the number box here and edited too.

Emoji. When we tested, wa.me replaced every emoji in the message with “” as it forwarded the link — the same for desktop, Android and iPhone browsers — and some of its servers did the same to © and ®. Links straight to https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=…&text=… kept them. So when your message has emoji, the tool writes its links, the QR code and the button in that longer form; remove the emoji if you want the short wa.me link.

How the number is converted

The number is checked against the numbering plan of its country with Google’s open-source libphonenumber metadata (via libphonenumber-js 1.13.14) and written in the international E.164 form — the country code followed by the national number, from ITU-T Recommendation E.164, The international public telecommunication numbering plan (ITU, edition 02/2026) — without the +:

  • The trunk prefix is dropped: India 098765 43210 → 919876543210, UK 07400 123456 → 447400123456, and the (0) in +44 (0)20 ….
  • An exit code in front of the country code is understood: 0091 … from India, 011 44 … from the US, 0011 … from Australia. 00 is accepted from any country.
  • Italy keeps its leading 0 (06 1234 5678 → 390612345678), and Argentine mobile numbers get the 9 that follows 54 in international format (011 15 2345-6789 → 5491123456789).
  • Mexico has used 10-digit numbers since 3 August 2019: its numbering plan dropped the 01, 02, 044 and 045 prefixes and the 1 after +52 for mobiles (ITU, national numbering plan of Mexico). A number written the old way is converted, with a note: +52 1 55 1234 5678 → 525512345678.
  • Digits typed in Devanagari, Bengali, Arabic-Indic and other scripts count as 0–9, and an extension such as ext. 22 is left out.
  • When the number does not fit the chosen country but is a valid number with its country code (for example 447400123456 with India chosen), it is read as an international number and the country is changed — the page says so.
  • A missing or extra digit is explained with the length of mobile numbers there, for example “mobile numbers there have 10 digits after +91”. Paste one number at a time: a link opens a chat with one person.

A number of the right length that is outside the ranges in use still gets a link, with a warning. Ofcom’s drama range 07700 900000–900999 is an example: the right length for a UK mobile, but no real phone has it (Ofcom).

QR codes that scan first time

  • The code holds the same link, so scanning it with a phone camera opens the chat in WhatsApp.
  • The downloads keep a white margin of four modules on every side: “QR Code requires a four-module wide margin at all sides of a symbol” (DENSO WAVE). Keep it when you place the code in a design.
  • Error correction lets a scratched or dirty code still scan: about 7% of the codewords can be restored at level L, 15% at M, 25% at Q and 30% at H (DENSO WAVE). M is the default; higher levels make denser codes.
  • A long message makes a denser code, which is harder to scan when printed small. The largest QR code holds about 2,953 characters of a link at level L, and fewer at higher levels — once encoded, an accented, Cyrillic or Arabic letter takes 6 characters, a letter in an Indian script 9, and most emoji 12.
  • Print the SVG for posters and stickers — it stays sharp at any size — and test the printed code with two or three phones.

Website buttons and WhatsApp’s brand rules

  • Button and Floating button are links styled with CSS — text only, no logo — in preset colours whose text contrast meets WCAG AA (at least 4.5:1). With Custom colours the tool warns you below that.
  • Use a CSS class gives you HTML plus a CSS rule for your stylesheet, with hover and keyboard-focus styles — also the choice when your site’s Content-Security-Policy blocks style attributes.
  • WhatsApp’s official button image: the Help Center article offers “Chat on WhatsApp” buttons in green and white and in three sizes to download, asks you to use the button as it is without changes, and notes that it is only available in English. This tool writes the HTML for it; upload the image you downloaded to your site and enter its address.
  • WhatsApp’s brand guidelines (WhatsApp brand resources) ask you to write “WhatsApp” with a capital W and A, never to modify or abbreviate it, not to use it as a verb, not to use an image confusingly similar to its telephone logo, and not to imply partnership, sponsorship or endorsement by WhatsApp. The button text is checked for the first three.

Limitations

  • The number is checked against the numbering plan only: the tool cannot tell whether it has a WhatsApp account. Open the link once to test it.
  • The pre-filled message is only placed in the text box. Nothing is sent until the person presses send, and they can edit or delete it first.
  • Some links are made by WhatsApp itself — group invites, channel links, and the short links and QR codes of the WhatsApp Business app. They hold no number or message, so this tool cannot make or read them.
  • There are no click or scan statistics: the link goes straight to WhatsApp, with no redirect service in between.
  • WhatsApp’s official button images are not included; download them from WhatsApp’s Help Center.
  • WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta. MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.

Privacy

The number and message are turned into links in your browser and are not sent to MySmartCoPilot. When a link is opened or the code is scanned, WhatsApp receives the number and message, as with any wa.me link. Your country and design choices — including a caption or button text you type — are remembered on this device; the number and the message never are.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a WhatsApp link to my own number?

Choose your country, type your WhatsApp number and copy the click-to-chat link. Anyone who opens it gets a chat with you without saving your number first. Add a message such as “Hi, I’d like to order…” to give them a head start.

Why is there no + or leading 0 in the link?

WhatsApp asks for the full number in international format, without zeroes, brackets or dashes: the country code and then the number, as in https://wa.me/919876543210. The tool removes the +, the spaces and the trunk prefix for you.

Can the message have line breaks and emoji?

Yes. Line breaks become %0A, text in any script is encoded as UTF-8, and characters such as &, ?, # and + are encoded so they cannot break the link. Emoji need the longer form of the link: wa.me replaced them with “”, while api.whatsapp.com/send links kept them, so a message with emoji gets that form automatically.

Does a wa.me link work on a computer?

Yes — WhatsApp’s Help Center says click to chat works on your phone and on WhatsApp Web.

What does the share link do?

A link with a message but no number (https://wa.me/?text=…) opens WhatsApp with the message ready and shows a list of contacts, so the sender chooses who gets it — useful for invitations, offers and “share on WhatsApp” buttons.

Is my number sent to MySmartCoPilot?

No. The links, the QR code and the HTML are made in your browser. WhatsApp receives the number only when a link is opened or the code is scanned.

Can I put the WhatsApp logo on my button?

WhatsApp’s brand guidelines ask you not to change its logos or use images confusingly similar to them, so the buttons made here are text only. If you want an image, use WhatsApp’s official “Chat on WhatsApp” button unchanged: choose WhatsApp’s official button image for its HTML.

Do the links or QR codes expire?

Not on MySmartCoPilot’s side: the number and message are inside the link itself, and no MySmartCoPilot server is involved. A link keeps working as long as the number has a WhatsApp account and WhatsApp supports wa.me links.
