About the Listing Sheet Checker for Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon India

A bulk listing upload fails, or its products fail quality checks, because of a few cells: an empty mandatory field, a colour typed differently from the drop-down list, an HSN code that lost its leading zero, 28% in the GST column, a selling price above the MRP, a Google Drive link instead of an image link, the same SKU twice. Open the template you filled in — the marketplace’s own file, from Meesho, Flipkart, Amazon.in or another panel — and every such cell is listed with its row and column and what to change.

The checker reads the rules from the template itself: its mandatory columns (a “*” or “mandatory” in the heading, a row of “Mandatory / Optional”, or a definitions sheet), its drop-down lists (also lists on hidden sheets and dependent lists that change with another column) and its length and number limits. On top it checks what follows from the law and from arithmetic. The sheet is read in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and nothing is submitted to any marketplace.

How to use it

  1. Download the bulk-upload template from your seller panel, fill it in and save it (keep it as .xlsx or .xlsm).
  2. Drop it here. The sheet to fill in, its heading row and the first product row are found automatically — change them if they are wrong.
  3. Open Columns to see what each column was taken to hold (SKU, MRP, HSN…) and which are mandatory; correct any that are wrong.
  4. Press Check the sheet. Fix the cells listed in your spreadsheet (the cell reference, such as D14, tells you where), then check again.
  5. Download the report as CSV to share it or work through it.

Examples

A Meesho catalog sheet
Input
48 rows · “Color*” has a drop-down list · HSN typed as 401 · GST % 28 on two rows
Result
D17: “Maroon Red” isn’t one of the 24 values in the drop-down list. · H9: an HSN code has 4, 6 or 8 digits; this has 3 — if it began with 0, Excel dropped the zero. · G3, G4: 28% is no longer a GST rate
An Amazon.in flat file with variations
Input
Parent SKU KRT-01 with size × colour children; one child has the same size and colour as another
Result
Two errors (both rows), a warning that the children have different Brand Name values, and a note that KRT-01 has no Blue XL

Common uses

  • Catching upload errors and quality-check rejections before uploading a catalog.
  • Checking a sheet a cataloguing agency or a colleague filled in.
  • Finding HSN codes Excel turned into numbers (and lost their leading zeros).
  • Making sure every image link opens the image itself, over https.

What is checked

From the template: - Mandatory fields that are empty (parent rows of a variation family aren’t asked for size, colour, price or stock). - Drop-down lists: a value not in the list is an error; the same word in other capitals is a warning, because upload checks often compare exactly. Lists on hidden sheets, named lists and dependent lists (INDIRECT of another cell) are read; lists built with other formulas are counted and skipped. - Length and number limits the template sets on a column.

From what a column holds (its heading tells the checker; you can correct it): - HSN code: digits only, 4, 6 or 8 of them — the lengths of the Harmonised System headings, sub-headings and tariff items — and, as a warning, codes that aren’t in GSTN’s HSN list (the list the HSN code finder searches). - GST rate: one of the rates in force for goods — 0%, 0.25%, 1.5%, 3%, 5%, 18% and 40% (the rate schedules). 28% no longer exists: its last goods moved to 40% and 18% (the notification that ended it). 12% now applies only to certain bricks, fly ash blocks and earthen or roofing tiles (the notification that keeps 12% for them), so it is a warning. - MRP and selling price: numbers above 0, and the selling price not above the MRP — the MRP is the most a packaged product may be sold for, taxes included (Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, rule 2(m)). - Weights and sizes: numbers, in the unit the heading asks for (“Net Weight (gms)” wants 250, not 0.25 kg). - Image links: https, no spaces, and a link to the image itself — not a Google Drive, Google Photos, Instagram or Dropbox preview page. - SKUs: no SKU twice; variants: no two rows of a style with the same size and colour, the same brand, HSN and GST rate across a style, a note for size × colour combinations that are missing, and a warning for a child row whose parent SKU isn’t written exactly as on a parent row of the sheet.

What it can’t see

A marketplace also checks things that are not in the file: whether your brand is approved, whether an image meets its photo rules, whether the category is right for the product, and its own price and quality rules. The checker can’t know those. It also doesn’t check against the marketplace’s live catalogue, so a SKU that already exists in your account isn’t found. Drop-down lists and limits are read from .xlsx and .xlsm files only — save an .xls or .ods template as .xlsx in Excel to get those checks too.

Limitations

  • Mandatory columns, lists and limits come from the template you load. A template that marks nothing as mandatory gets no mandatory checks until you tick the columns under Columns.
  • Up to 20,000 rows and 400 columns of one sheet are read, and the first 5,000 problems are listed.
  • Lists that use formulas other than plain ranges, names and INDIRECT (for example OFFSET) are not checked; the result says how many cells that affects.
  • GST rates are checked for goods; services can have other rates.
  • Password-protected workbooks can’t be read: remove the password in Excel first.

Privacy

Everything happens in your browser. What you enter or open here is not uploaded or stored by MySmartCoPilot. The spreadsheet reader (SheetJS) and GSTN’s HSN list (about 260 KB) download from this site once. Your sheet is read on your device and never uploaded or submitted.

Frequently asked questions

Is my sheet uploaded or sent to the marketplace?

No. The file is read in your browser and the report is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is submitted to Meesho, Flipkart, Amazon or anyone else.

Which marketplaces’ templates does it work with?

Any bulk-upload template in Excel format: Meesho, Flipkart, Amazon.in flat files and others. The rules are read from the template itself, so a new version of a template is checked by its own rules.

Why does it say my HSN code has 3 or 7 digits?

Excel stores a number typed into a General column as a number and drops a leading zero (0401 becomes 401). Format the HSN column as Text, type the codes again, and check the sheet again.

The checker took a column for the wrong thing. Can I fix that?

Yes. Open Columns, choose what the column holds (or “—” for nothing), tick or untick Mandatory, and press Check the sheet again.

Can it fill the sheet for me?

The Bulk Listing Sheet Builder makes the rows from one product and its sizes and colours, writes them into the marketplace’s template and runs these checks before you download.
