About the Bangladesh Sanchayapatra Profit Calculator
Work out the profit on Bangladesh’s national savings certificates (Sanchayapatra) and the post office term deposit: the profit you receive every month, every three months or at maturity, the 10% source tax taken from it, what you have at the end, and what you get if you encash early. Choose the 5-year Bangladesh Sanchayapatra, the 3-month profit-based Sanchayapatra, the Pensioner Sanchayapatra, the Paribar (family) Sanchayapatra or the post office savings bank term deposit, and enter the amount and your total in national savings.
The calculator starts from the rates the Department of National Savings publishes as current, in both tiers (a total investment up to Tk 7,50,000, and above), with the rate for each year a certificate is held. The Finance Division reviews the rates every six months, so every rate here can be edited: when a new notification changes them, enter its rates. Nothing you type leaves your browser. Without a pass the page shows a free preview of your own result: the net profit per payment, with the first rows of each table, while every other figure stays hidden until you unlock it with a Pro pass.
How to use it
- Choose the scheme. Its term, how often it pays and who may buy it are shown under the choice.
- Enter the amount you invest and, if you hold other national savings, your total in all schemes including this purchase: above Tk 7,50,000 the second tier’s lower rates apply. For Pensioner Sanchayapatra, also enter your total in that scheme alone if you already hold some: it decides the source tax.
- Check the rates and the source tax: they start at the published table and the 10% of section 105 (none on Pensioner Sanchayapatra while your total in it is Tk 5 lakh or less). Change them if a newer notification sets others.
- Choose to hold to maturity or to encash after a number of years, and read the profit per payment, every payment and the encashment table; copy the summary or download the CSV with a pass, or after unlocking this result.
Examples
Tier up to Tk 7,50,000: 11.83% a year at maturity, profit paid at the end
Profit Tk 2,95,750; source tax Tk 29,575; Tk 7,66,175 at maturity
11.82% a year, paid every 3 months for 3 years
Tk 14,775 a quarter, Tk 13,297.50 after the 10% source tax; Tk 1,59,570 after tax over the term
Above Tk 7,50,000: 11.80% a year, paid every month
Tk 9,833.33 a month, Tk 8,850 after source tax
Profit due at the year-2 rate: Tk 5,00,000 × 11.22% × 2 = Tk 1,12,200; paid by then at 11.82%: Tk 1,18,200
Tk 6,000 comes off the principal: Tk 4,94,000 back
The schemes
- 5-year Bangladesh Sanchayapatra: profit at maturity; up to Tk 30 lakh in one name or Tk 60 lakh in joint names.
- 3-month profit-based Sanchayapatra: 3 years, profit every three months; from Tk 1 lakh, up to Tk 30 lakh (Tk 60 lakh joint).
- Pensioner Sanchayapatra: 5 years, profit every month; for retired government, semi-government and autonomous-body employees, retired Supreme Court judges, retired members of the armed forces and family-pension holders, up to Tk 50 lakh from gratuity and provident fund money.
- Paribar (family) Sanchayapatra: 5 years, profit every month; for Bangladeshi women aged 18 or over, persons with a physical disability and citizens aged 65 or over, up to Tk 45 lakh in one name.
- Post office savings bank term deposit: 3 years, profit at maturity; up to Tk 10 lakh (Tk 20 lakh joint).
The 5-year, 3-month and Paribar certificates together are limited to Tk 50 lakh in one name or Tk 1 crore in joint names (Department of National Savings).
How the profit is worked out
Each scheme has a rate for every year it is held: the rate after the first year, after the second, and so on to the rate at maturity. Held for n full years, the profit is the amount × that year’s rate × n: Tk 5,00,000 in the 5-year certificate held to maturity earns 5 × 11.83% = 59.15%, Tk 2,95,750. The published rates rise each year because they are simple-interest equivalents of the first year’s rate compounded every year.
Certificates that pay as they go (every three months or every month) pay the maturity rate along the way: Tk 5,00,000 × 11.82% ÷ 4 = Tk 14,775 a quarter. Encashed before maturity, the profit due is worked out again at the year’s rate, and whatever was paid above it is deducted from the principal you get back.
The rate depends on your cumulative investment in the national savings schemes, earlier purchases included: up to Tk 7,50,000 the first tier, above it the second (notifications). A certificate keeps the rate it was bought at for its whole term; a later change applies to new purchases and reinvestment.
Source tax on the profit
The office that pays the profit deducts tax at source of 10% of it (Income Tax Act, 2023, section 105). On Pensioner Sanchayapatra no tax is deducted while your total investment in it is Tk 5 lakh or less, and that profit is also exempt from tax (Sixth Schedule, Part 1); above Tk 5 lakh the 10% applies. The tax deducted is credited against your income tax when you file your return, and savings certificates you buy count toward the investment rebate, up to Tk 5,00,000 a year. A certificate you claimed the rebate for has to be held to maturity: encashed earlier, the rebate it gave is paid back as additional tax in the year you encash it (Income Tax Circular, Sixth Schedule, Part 3).
Limitations
- The rates start at the table the Department of National Savings publishes as current; check the latest notification before you invest and change the rates if they differ.
- Encashment is shown at the end of each full year, as the rate table gives it. Encashing between those points, the office’s own calculation applies.
- The source tax is applied to the profit you keep; how the tax already deducted on profit later taken back is settled is not shown.
- Wage Earner Development Bonds, US Dollar bonds, prize bonds and the post office general account are not included.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Bangladesh Sanchayapatra Profit Calculator shows the net profit per payment in full, with the first rows of each table (up to 3); every other figure is hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
How much profit does Tk 1 lakh in Sanchayapatra give?
In the 5-year Bangladesh Sanchayapatra at 11.83% for 5 years, Tk 59,150 at maturity, Tk 53,235 after the 10% source tax. In the Paribar Sanchayapatra at 11.93%, Tk 994.17 a month before tax, Tk 894.75 after it. The calculator works it out for your amount, your tier and the rates you set.
What are the two tiers of rates?
The rates depend on your cumulative investment in the national savings schemes, all schemes and earlier purchases together: up to Tk 7,50,000 the first tier’s rates apply, above it the second tier’s, which are a little lower (11.80% instead of 11.83% at maturity for the 5-year certificate).
How much tax is cut from Sanchayapatra profit?
10% of each profit payment is deducted at source under section 105 of the Income Tax Act, 2023. Pensioner Sanchayapatra pays its profit without deduction while your total in it is Tk 5 lakh or less.
What happens if I encash before maturity?
The profit is worked out at the rate for the years you held it, which is lower than the maturity rate. For certificates that pay every month or quarter, whatever was paid above that comes off your principal: Tk 5,00,000 in the 3-month certificate encashed after 2 years gives back Tk 4,94,000. If you claimed the investment rebate for the certificate, that rebate is paid back as additional tax in the year you encash it.
Do the rates change?
The Finance Division reviews them every six months. A certificate keeps the rate of the day it was bought for its whole term; new rates apply to new purchases. Every rate in the calculator can be edited for that reason.
