About Virtual Piano

A two-octave on-screen piano you can play with a mouse, a touchscreen or your computer keyboard. Every note you hear is generated live in your browser by the Web Audio API — there are no sampled or recorded instrument sounds and no copyrighted music anywhere in this tool.

Good for noodling out a melody, checking an interval, or just enjoying a few synthesized piano-like tones.

How to play

  1. Click or tap a key to play its note.
  2. Press the matching letter/number key on your keyboard to play without a mouse.
  3. Toggle Show scale to highlight the notes of a chosen major scale across the keyboard.
  4. Hold a key down for a sustained tone; release to let it fade.
