      About the Study Focus Timer

Work in focused stretches with planned breaks: by default 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break, with a longer 15-minute break after every fourth session — all of it adjustable. Press Start (or the space bar) and the timer counts down, chimes when the interval ends and moves on to the break.

Add the tasks you are studying and pick the one you are working on: every finished focus session is counted on it and written to a session log, with your focus time today, a daily goal, a day streak and the last seven days at a glance. Everything — tasks, log and settings — stays in this browser, and the timer keeps working offline. It can show a notification when an interval ends while you are in another tab, and keep the screen on while it runs.

      How to use it

      1. Under Settings, check the focus and break lengths (25 / 5 / 15 minutes by default) and how many focus sessions come before a long break.
      2. Add a task and choose Working on — your sessions are counted on it.
      3. Press Start or the space bar. Skip (S) moves to the next interval, Reset (R) restarts the current one.
      4. Turn on notifications, the chime and Keep the screen on if you want them.
      5. See your progress under Today, and download the session log as CSV whenever you like.

Where the 25 and 5 minutes come from

Focus intervals of 25 minutes with a 5-minute break are the rhythm of the time-management method Francesco Cirillo created and describes in The Pomodoro Technique® — his official site describes winding the timer “to 25 minutes” and then “for your 5-minute break”. The longer break after every fourth session is this timer’s default; change it, or the other lengths, to suit you.

Pomodoro® is a registered trademark of Francesco Cirillo. This timer is a general focus timer: it is not affiliated with, authorised or endorsed by him or his company.

      Timing you can trust

When you press Start, the timer stores the moment the interval ends and always shows the time left until then, so it does not drift even if the browser runs the page late. The end chime is queued on the audio clock in advance, so it rings on time in a background tab. If the page was asleep or closed, it catches up when it runs again: an interval that ended in the meantime is completed and logged, but the next one starts on its own only if the end was noticed within a minute and a half — so a laptop left closed overnight never records sessions nobody studied.

      Your data

Tasks, the session log, settings and the timer itself are saved in this browser’s storage on this device — nothing is uploaded, and no account is needed. Reloading the page keeps a running timer going. Clearing this site’s data in the browser deletes them, so download the CSV if you want a copy. Open in two tabs, the timers follow each other and a session is logged once.

      Keyboard shortcuts

      • Space: start / pause
      • S: skip to the next interval
      • R: reset the current interval

They work when you are not typing in a box, and you can switch them off in Settings.

      Limitations

      • Keep the page open. Phones may pause pages in the background or with the screen off; the timer then catches up when you return, and the chime may play late or not at all.
      • Notifications need your permission, and some phones show them only for sites added to the Home Screen.
      • On iPhone the ring/silent switch can mute website sounds. Not every browser can keep the screen on.
      • The log is kept in this browser only — it is not synced to your other devices.

      Privacy

Your tasks, session log and settings are stored only in this browser (localStorage) and never leave your device. Notifications are created on your device.

      Frequently asked questions

      Is this a Pomodoro® timer?

It works in the same rhythm of 25-minute focus sessions and 5-minute breaks that Francesco Cirillo’s method uses, but it is our own general focus timer and is not affiliated with him. Pomodoro® is a registered trademark of Francesco Cirillo.

Can I change the 25 and 5 minutes?

Yes. In Settings, set focus from 1 to 180 minutes, short and long breaks, how many sessions come before a long break, and whether breaks and focus sessions start on their own.

Does it keep time if I switch tabs or lock my phone?

The countdown is worked out from the clock, so it stays right; in a background tab the chime is queued in advance. A locked phone may pause the page — the timer catches up when you come back.

      Where are my sessions saved?

In this browser on this device only. Nothing is uploaded. Download the log as CSV to keep a copy or move it elsewhere.

What counts as a finished session?

A focus interval that runs to zero. If you skip or reset one, switch to a break or start a new cycle after at least a minute of focus, it is logged as “ended early” with the minutes you did, but it does not count towards your daily goal or your task.
