About the Social Share Link Generator
Type a page address, the text you want people to share and any hashtags, and get a share link for every major network: X, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon (on your own server), e-mail and SMS. Each link is built the way the network documents it — the right parameter names, hashtags without “#” for X, the link as a separate attachment for Threads — and is encoded so &, #, line breaks, every script and emoji survive. Press Open next to any link to try it.
You also get direct-message and profile links — t.me for Telegram (with a draft message), m.me for Messenger, ig.me for Instagram and a Threads follow link — and the HTML for share buttons that are plain links: no scripts, no tracking, keyboard and screen-reader friendly. Everything is made in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded.
How to use it
- Paste the page address (
https://…) and type the text to share. Add hashtags separated by spaces or commas, with or without#. - Open More options to add your X username (for “via @you”), an image address for Pinterest, your Mastodon server, an e-mail subject, a phone number for SMS or a Facebook app ID.
- Copy a link, or press Open to test it. Notes under a link say what that network does with your text, and counters warn when a post would be too long.
- Under Share buttons, choose the networks and copy the HTML (and the CSS, if you want the styling) into your page.
- For chats, type your Telegram, Messenger, Instagram or Threads username under Message and follow links.

X’s hashtags parameter is a comma-separated list without “#”; X adds the signs. The & in the text is encoded as %26 so it cannot cut the link short.

Both take only the address: they show the title, description and image from the page’s Open Graph tags.
“Read this” · https://example.com/blog/post
mailto:?subject=Read%20this&body=Read%20this%0D%0A%0D%0Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Fblog%2Fpost
RFC 6068 asks for spaces as %20 and line breaks in the body as %0D%0A; leaving out the address lets the sender choose who gets it.

Common uses
- Share buttons for a blog, a shop or a portfolio, without loading every network’s script (and its tracking) on each page view.
- “Click to post” links in newsletters, e-mails and PDFs, with the text and hashtags filled in.
- A “Message us” link to your Telegram, Messenger or Instagram inbox for a bio, a website or a QR code.
- Checking what a share link sends before you put it in a campaign — and whether the text fits each network.
What each network takes
- X:
x.com/intent/tweetwithtext,url,hashtags(comma-separated, without #) andvia— X Post button and Web Intent. X counts every link as 23 characters, so the counter shows the post as X counts it. - Facebook: the documented Share Dialog needs an app ID (
facebook.com/dialog/share?app_id=…&href=…, with one optional hashtag). Without one the tool uses the long-standingfacebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=…link, which Facebook still answers with its share page but does not describe in its current docs. - LinkedIn:
linkedin.com/sharing/share-offsite/?url=…takes only the address. - WhatsApp:
wa.me/?text=…with the whole message (WhatsApp Help Center); a message with emoji gets theapi.whatsapp.com/sendform, as in our WhatsApp Link Generator. - Telegram:
t.me/share/url?url=…&text=…; the address is required (Telegram share button). - Reddit:
reddit.com/submit?url=…&title=…. - Pinterest:
pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=…&media=…&description=…— a Pin needs the image address, and descriptions can be up to 500 characters (Pinterest buttons). - Threads:
threads.com/intent/postwithtext,url(an attached link) andtag, one topic tag of up to 50 characters (Threads Web Intents). - Bluesky:
bsky.app/intent/compose?text=…; the link goes in the text (Bluesky intent links). - Mastodon:
https://<your server>/share?text=…— Mastodon has no central site, so the link opens the server you choose and the person signs in there. - E-mail:
mailto:?subject=…&body=…(RFC 6068). SMS:sms:<number>?body=…(RFC 5724).
Why Facebook and LinkedIn ignore your text
Facebook and LinkedIn share the page itself: they read its title, description and image from the page’s Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url) and let the person write their own words. LinkedIn’s help page asks for all four tags and an image of at least 1200 × 627 pixels (LinkedIn: Making your website shareable). Check your tags with the Open Graph Checker before you share.
Share buttons that need no script
The HTML is a list of ordinary links, so it works on any site, in e-mail templates and with a strict Content-Security-Policy:
- Each link has visible text (“Share on X”), so screen readers and voice control can name it; the list has an
aria-label. - Links that open a new tab say so to screen readers, and use
rel="noopener noreferrer". - E-mail and SMS links open the mail or messages app, in the same tab.
- The optional CSS gives 44-pixel touch targets and a visible keyboard focus ring, in your page’s own colours (
currentColor). - No network script is loaded, so nothing tracks your visitors until they choose to share.
Limitations
- Each network decides what its page does with a link — what is pre-filled, whether people must sign in first — and can change it. Press Open to test each link.
- Reddit and Facebook’s sharer.php are not described in those networks’ current developer documentation; they answered with their share pages when the tool was built.
- SMS links without a phone number are outside the SMS link standard, so some messaging apps may not fill in the text.
- Instagram has no web link for sharing a post; ig.me opens a direct message with an account in the Instagram app (Meta says it is not supported on Instagram on the web).
- The counters use each network’s published counting rules; posts can still be cut if a network changes them.
Privacy
The links and HTML are made in your browser; the page address, text and usernames you type are not uploaded. When someone opens a link, that network receives what is in it, as with any share link.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a link that opens X (Twitter) with my text?
Type the text and the page address: the X link (https://x.com/intent/tweet?text=…&url=…) opens the post composer with both filled in. People can still edit the post before they send it.
Why doesn’t my text appear when I share on Facebook or LinkedIn?
Their share links take only the page address. They show the title, description and image from the page’s Open Graph tags, and the person writes their own text. To change what appears, change those tags on your page.
Do I need the networks’ JavaScript share buttons?
No. Every share button is a link to a URL like the ones here. Plain links load nothing from the networks, so they are faster and do not let them track visitors who never share.
Why does the Mastodon link need my server?
Mastodon is made of many independent servers, and people share from the server where they have an account. Type your server (for example mastodon.social) to make a link for your audience.
Are hashtags with spaces allowed?
No network turns words with spaces into one hashtag, so the tool takes each word as a separate tag and removes punctuation. Write a multi-word tag as one word, such as #SummerSale.
Is anything I type uploaded?
No. Everything is built in your browser and the page works offline once loaded. A network sees the link’s contents only when someone opens it.
