About the Annotate Image & Screenshot
Paste a screenshot (Ctrl+V / ⌘V) or open any image, then mark it up for a bug report, a how-to guide or a support reply: arrows, boxes and ellipses, a see-through highlighter, numbered step badges, text callouts, blur and pixelate boxes to hide private details, and a freehand pen. Everything can be moved, resized, recoloured, undone and redone.
When you are done, copy the result to the clipboard and paste it straight into an email, chat, ticket or document, or download it as PNG, JPEG or WebP at the screenshot’s full resolution. Keyboard shortcuts make it fast, and the screenshot never leaves your device.
How to use it
- Paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac), use Paste from clipboard, or choose an image file.
- Pick a tool — Arrow (A), Box (R), Ellipse (E), Highlight (H), Pen (P), Steps (N), Text (T), Blur (B), Pixelate (X) — and drag or click on the image.
- Choose a colour and size; with an annotation selected, the change applies to it. Drag the ends of an arrow to adjust it; press Delete to remove a selection.
- Select Copy image (Ctrl+C / ⌘C) to paste it elsewhere, or Download (Ctrl+S / ⌘S) as PNG, JPEG or WebP.
Examples
Screenshot of an error page · red arrow to the message · box around the failing field · text “Clicked Save here”
An annotated PNG copied to the clipboard and pasted into the issue tracker
Steps tool: click Settings → Privacy → Clear data
Numbered badges 1, 2, 3 next to each button, in the order clicked
Box with Filled on over the card number · Blur over the address
The card number is covered completely; the address is unreadable
Tips
- Shift draws straight pen lines, 45° arrows, perfect squares and circles.
- No mouse needed: focus the screenshot and press Enter to add the chosen arrow, box, ellipse, step badge, text, blur or pixelate box in the middle, then move it with the arrow keys and resize it with + and − (only freehand pen and highlighter strokes need a pointer).
- Annotations keep their look on any screenshot size: thickness, text and badges scale with the image.
- The highlighter multiplies its colour with the screenshot, so dark text stays readable underneath.
- Steps badges count up automatically (1, 2, 3…); after deleting one, new badges continue from the highest number.
- Paste a second image while one is open to add it as a movable layer — for example a zoomed detail.
Hiding private information
Blur and pixelate boxes show a blurred or pixelated copy of the screenshot underneath them. They are fine for faces, addresses or names in a screenshot you share casually. But blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be partly reconstructed, especially short numbers in a known font. For passwords, card numbers, ID numbers or tokens, cover them with a Box that has Filled turned on — the saved image then contains only the solid colour there. The tool flattens everything into new pixels when you save, so nothing underneath a filled box remains in the file.
Limitations
- Annotations are flattened into the image when you save; to change them later, keep this tab open (undo and redo work until you leave the page).
- Very large images (over 25 megapixels) are scaled down for editing and saving.
- Blur and pixelate act on the screenshot itself, not on annotations placed under them.
- Copying images to the clipboard needs a recent browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox 127+); otherwise use Download.

Frequently asked questions
How do I paste a screenshot?
Take the screenshot to the clipboard (Windows: Win + Shift + S; Mac: ⌘ + Shift + 4, holding Control), then press Ctrl+V or ⌘V on this page — or use Paste from clipboard.
How do I copy the annotated image back?
Select Copy image or press Ctrl+C (⌘C on a Mac) when no text is selected. The image goes to the clipboard as PNG, ready to paste into email, chat, Jira, GitHub or a document.
Is blur safe for hiding passwords?
Not always. Blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be partly recovered. Use a filled box for passwords, card numbers and other secrets.
Can I edit an annotation after adding it?
Yes. Click it (or press V for the Select tool) to move or resize it, change its colour or size with the style bar, drag an arrow’s ends, or double-click text to edit it.
Are my screenshots uploaded?
No. The editor runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and it works offline once loaded.
